The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), on Thursday, June 11, signed a partnership agreement with the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
The partnership aims at establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions, specifically their Departments of Public Administration and Health Services Management (PAHSM) and Public Management and Governance respectively.

At a meeting with the Dean of UGBS, Prof. Joshua Yindenaba Abor, Dr. Justice Bawole, Head of PAHSM Department and a cross section of Faculty Members, Prof. Christelle Auriacombe, Head of Public Management and Governance Department and Director of Centre for Public Management and Governance at the UJ, highlighted a number of benefits both institutions stand to reap.
According to her, a UJ partnership means when staff of the Department of PAHSM publish in UJ’s journal, it will attract R 15,000 into a trust fund to be used to fund flight tickets and accommodation of the published faculty to South Africa for conferences or research purposes. UJ will also admit and fund the PhD studies of faculty of PAHSM to undertake PhD studies. In return, PAHSM faculty will serve as external examiners for, as well as deliver guest lectures at UJ.
The Dean of UGBS, Prof. Abor said the UGBS was happy to collaborate with UJ and emphasised that the School’s strong faculty will be willing to serve in external examiner roles as well collaborate on research.

Dr. Bawole also welcomed the partnership, calling it extremely wonderful news. He said the collaboration will broaden the frontiers of the PASHM Department and help faculty without PhD to enroll for their PhDs.
Present at the meeting, which culminated in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, were Dr. Thomas Buabeng, Dr. Albert Ahenkan, and Dr. Kwame Asamoah, all of the Department of PAHSM. Also present were Dr. John Effah, UGBS’s International Relations Coordinator, Dr. Abugre of the Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management, and Prof. Shika Vyas-Doorgapersad with UJ’s Department of Public Management and Governance.
