The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) was second in the maiden edition of the Royal Banking & Finance Challenge (TRBFC). The inter-tertiary competition, organised by Edufair Ghana Foundation in collaboration with the headline sponsor, the Royal Bank, seeks to promote financial literacy amongst tertiary institutions in Ghana.
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology emerged the overall winner, followed by the University of Ghana Business School in the second position, with University of Education, Winneba and Methodist University College Ghana in the third and fourth positions respectively.
The School was represented by Mr. Kenneth Nii Yeboah Otoo and Miss. Theresa Addo-Yobo, and coached by Dr. Elikplimi Agbloyor, Senior Lecturer, Department of Finance. For their reward, the two contestants received a laptop each for their personal use, GH¢3,000 from The Royal Bank secured in their Royal Students Accounts, GH¢1,000 worth of Databank Student Investment Account, GH¢30,000 worth of life insurance cover from Glico Insurance and GH¢500 worth of book allowance. In addition, the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB) presented to the school’s Library, GH¢3,000 and GH¢1,000 worth of books on banking and finance.
The Royal Bank announced that all eight contestants from the last four competing institutions would be given internship opportunities with the sponsors of the Challenge.
