The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017, interacted with a gathering of retirees to show appreciation to their valuable contributions in diverse ways to the development of the school. The event was attended by a cross-section of faculty to celebrate the achievements of retirees of the school.
Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor, Dean of UGBS, in his welcome address mentioned that Retirees’ contributions to the development of the school cannot be underestimated. Hence, the need to recognise their worth. It is for this reason that the interaction is necessary to show the school’s appreciation for the exemplary contributions of retirees during their active and inactive service days. In his closing remarks, Prof. Abor noted the need to ensure the continuation of retiree interactions through similar events.
Mr. M.K Gyasi, a retired staff from The Department of Accounting, recounted the numerous hurdles the school crossed to become what it is today. He urged the current crop of faculty and staff to emulate the exemplary contributions of R. S. Amegashie and aspire to make the UGBS a preferred destination for Business Education.
Professor Samuel Nunoo Woode, a retired faculty and former Dean of UGBS, thanked the Dean, Management, the Alumni Relations Office, Faculty and Staff for acknowledging the contributions of former faculty and staff of the Business School. He further mentioned that past faculty and staff have done their bit towards the growth of the school and that the current staff must build on that to make UGBS a world class business school which fits into the vision of UGBS.
The Retirees received awards in recognition of their contributions towards the development of UGBS.
