At the recently held 20th Academy of African Business and Development (AABD) conference, formerly IAABD, some faculty of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) were elected as executives of the Academy.
Dr. James Baba Abugre of the Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management (OHRM) was elected as the General Secretary whereas Dr. Kobby Mensah of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship was elected for the position of Vice President, Communication. Other participating members from UGBS were Prof. Anthony Q. Q. Aboagye, a faculty from the Department of Finance and Mrs. Victoria Mann, a PhD student at the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
The conference which was under the theme “Towards Industrialized Africa: Opportunities and Challenges” was held at Ramada Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 8th to 12th May 2019, with the host institution being the University of Dar es Salaam Business School. The AABD is an annual conference attended by renowned scholars and practitioners with interest in Africa. There were other participants from leading global academic institutions suchh as Washburn University, USA, Clark Atlanta University, USA, Athabasca University, Canada, University of Trento, Italy, and Jiangsu University, China.
Aside the academic research, the conference also deliberated on diverse issues and solutions bothering on African development agenda in its plenary sessions. Research papers from over 100 researchers were presented on various topics spanning: Digital Social Ecosystems, Women Entrepreneurship, Conventional Conflict Resolution, Political Brand Architecture Management, among others.
UGBS congratulates Dr. James Baba Abugre and Dr. Kobby Mensah and wishes them well in their new roles as executives of the Academy.
