The Council of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has appointed Ms. Abena Amoah, an alumna of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), as the Deputy Managing Director of the Exchange. In her capacity, she will be responsible for the Exchange's operational activities, namely Trading and Surveillance, Listings and New Products, the Exchange's Ghana Fixed Income Market, as well as IT systems.
Ms. Abena Amoah was a founding executive of the Ghana Securities Industry Association, an Authorised Dealing Officer of the Ghana Stock Exchange, an Assessor (Capital Markets Expert) of the Commercial Division of the High Court of Ghana, and has also served on boards of companies - publicly listed, private, as well as non-profit firms. She has, likewise, been an advisor on the development of financial markets to the Government of Ghana and financial sector regulators in West Africa. She is highly regarded in her industry for her exceptional expertise and credibility.
In a comment, Mr. Ekow Afedzie, the Exchange's Managing Director, indicated that it is a crucial time for the Exchange and was delighted to welcome Abena and work closely with her as they modernize and transition from a frontier market to a developing market, in line with the government's aim to make Ghana the West African sub-regions financial hub.
Ms. Abena Amoah took up her appointment on August 1, 2020. UGBS expresses its warmest congratulations to her and wishes her a rewarding term of office.
