Students of UGBS Receive Prestigious Vice-Chancellors Academic Awards

The University of Ghana (UG), has honoured 21 students from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), at the Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Awards ceremony held at the Great Hall, on Friday 24th February 2017. The event recognises and rewards remarkable student academic achievements and performances of the UG.
In a welcome address read on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Ghana, Prof Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, commended the contributions of sponsors towards honouring academic excellence. He thanked them for supporting the vision of the University of Ghana to produce world class quality human resource to meet national and global development needs.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the award winners for their outstanding academic performances and mentioned that, the University of Ghana in partnership with its sponsors will continue to acknowledge and reward exceptional students’ performance. He therefore encouraged other students to emulate the example of the award winners. Prof Owusu asserted that, the gender disparity between males and females in the University of Ghana is fast diminishing, pointing to the fact that, 86 of the awards were won by female students out of a total of 156 awards to be presented.

In his speech on behalf of the sponsors, Dr Wisdom Amegletor, CEO of New Crystal Health Services, urged awardees to put the knowledge they have acquired into practice to solve problems confronting society. He also asked them to use the power of the internet to broaden their knowledge and build their capacity to challenge the status quo. He suggested that, the University of Ghana work out modalities to encourage student industry partnership in the area of research. This he said will help make research a useful tool for national development.

The UGBS therefore proudly congratulates the award winners as they continue to step into excellence.
