Professor Robert Ebo Hinson of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship of the University of Ghana Business School hosted some students from the University of Western Michigan on the 14th of December 2017, at his Legon residence. The reception was aimed at welcoming these students to Accra, the Business School, and the University of Ghana. These students are members of the study abroad programme organised by the University of Western Michigan.
Speaking on the relevance of the programme, Dr. Alhassan Mumuni, Professor of marketing at Western Michigan University and facilitator of the programme mentioned that the programme is aimed at giving the students the chance to understudy the business and culture of Ghana. He also added that the study abroad programme doubles as a platform for students to visit and interact with students and faculty of universities in other regions.
In an interview with the visiting students, they expressed a general culture shock stating that this was their first time witnessing the Ghanaian culture. With regard to their expectations for the programme, a number of them pointed out their desire to use this time to get a better understanding of the economic and business structures in Ghana.
Professor Hinson thanked the students for accepting his invitation and presented them with copies of his book titled “Customer Service Essentials”.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Mumini, thanked Professor Hinson on behalf of the students for his warm reception and the books. He also gave him the flag of the Western Michigan University as a token of their appreciation. Also present at the reception was Dr. Mahmoud A. Mahmoud from the Department Of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
