Oral Examination for UGBS PAHSM Department

The Department of Public Administration and Health System Management (PAHSM) has conducted an oral examination for all year two PhD students in the Department. The oral examination was held on 29th January 2016, with a total of 15 students presenting on various topics to a three separate panels of examiners. Some of the lecturers who constituted the examination panels are Dr. Justice Bawole (HOD PAHSM), Prof. Kwame Domfeh, Dr. Albert Ahenkan, Dr. Lily Yarney, and Dr. Patience Aseweh Abor.
The students were examined on the general presentation and communication, the relevance and justification of the proposed topic, the level of mastery of the subject area of their proposed topics, the general knowledge on public administration/health management, theory and philosophy of research in the discipline and their knowledge of research paradigms. 
Among students who were examined are Theresa Obuobisah and Richard Adjetey. Theresa Obuobisah presented on ‘Leadership, Employee Engagement and Productivity in Public Sector Organizations in Developing Countries: The Case of Ghana’. Her work explores the relationship between employee productivity and leadership engagement.

Richard Adjetey on his part presented on the impact of Social Protection Program on the health status of the poor. His work seeks to explore how the social intervention programs are used as instruments to bridge the financial barriers that the extreme poor face in terms of healthcare.

At the end of the session, students were advised to validate all methods employed in their line of research in order to produce good PhD theses.
