Mr. Evans Mensah, editor and head of the political desk, Multi-Media Group, Joy FM, emphasised on the need for Politicians to engage the services of Political Marketers because, electorates have become politically astute. He made this observation during a lecture at the University of Ghana Business School’s (UGBS) MA Political Marketing class on Friday June 16, 2017, where he spoke on ‘voter behaviour and how it influenced the outcome of elections 2016’.
He stated that there is a need for politicians to employ the services of political marketers to deploy good strategy in elections 2020. According to Mr. Mensah, a pre-election programme, the ballot box, conducted in the country revealed that voter behaviour has changed drastically.
Mr. Mensah affirmed that the political environment of this nation has changed from ancestral ties to good governance and feasible policies, and it will only require pure science to win power. Therefore, Political Marketing students and Political Communicators should strategise themselves well for the political market, come election 2020. Citing Adaklu, one of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party’s strong hold, he explained that NDC’s failure to meet the people’s needs with good roads, portable drinking water and other developmental projects led to low voter turnout in the 2016 elections.
The course lecturer, Dr. Kobby Mensah lauded Mr. Evans Mensah for the insight.
