As part of measures to enhance quality teaching and research at the Department of Operations and Management Information System (OMIS), the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) received Dr. Emmanuel Kolog Awuni on 1st October, 2018 as a new Faculty Member of the institution.
Dr. Awuni obtained his first degree in Information Technology and a Post-graduate certificate (PGC) in Education from Ghana. He later earned his Master of Science (MSc) degree in Software Engineering from the University of Eastern Finland, Finland. He progressed to attain his Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Computer Science with orientation in Human Language Technologies (Data Science) from the same University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business Management from the Lapland University of Applied Sciences Business School, Finland.
Dr. Awuni has published in several forums and attended conferences in Computing and Management domains. He is a reviewer and editorial board member of several journals and conferences. Dr. Awuni’s research interest is multidisciplinary, which spans the fields of Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning applications in Text mining, Text-based Affect Detection, Educational Technology, Information Systems and Business Intelligence. Dr. Awuni is an award-winning researcher in a computing conference held in Hong Kong in 2018. He looks forward to bringing to bear his experience as a researcher to the University.
Dr. Awuni extends his appreciation to the University of Ghana Business School for the warm reception. He is committed to impart his knowledge in training students towards their personal development and that of the nation at large. He further, looks forward to helping improve the research capacity of the school through sourcing for external funds and collaborations. He appeals that the School expands its research capacity by providing internal research funding to augment its chances of competing with the globally recognised universities.
