Dr. Elikplimi Komla Agbloyor, a lecturer with the Department of Finance, has participated in the prestigious Latin American Forum on Global Governance which ran from 22nd to 31st March, 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Forum, jointly organized by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, and the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), was themed ‘Globalization and Regional Integration: Challenges and Chances’.

In line with the theme, the Forum featured simulation exercises such as the “Hex Game”, a powerful simulation exercise about country management in a situation of crisis and scarcity.
Participants, totaling 50, were grouped into teams representing various levels of government: national, regional and local.
The goal of each team was to provide their settlements with necessary resources, infrastructure and services. Two teams were constituted for this year’s Hex Game with Dr. Agbloyor’s group emerging tops.

Dr. Agbloyor also participated in a stimulating debate on the topic, ‘Will the BRICS Develop a ‘Side World Order?’

Speakers, who covered a wide array of topics on Global Economic Challenges and Urbanization and the Challenges of Slums, among others, included Oliver Stuenkel, Assistant Professor of International Relations at FGV and Manfred Lahnstein, former German Finance Minister.

The overall aim of the Latin American Forum on Global Governance is to foster leadership qualities in young professionals by involving them in an international dialogue on current political, economic and social issues.
