Oct 01, 2019

On the 27th September 2019, a PhD oral examination was organised for Mr. Ebenezer Bugri Anarfo by the Department of Finance, University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) and the School of Graduate Studies.

Mr. Anarfo’s thesis which is on the topic “Financial Inclusion, Monetary Policy, Financial Sector Development and Financial Regulation in Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA)”, was supervised by Professor Joshua Y. Abor, Professor K. A. Osei, and Dr Agyapomaa Gyeke- Darko. His thesis was a collection of three related essays on the causal interactions among financial sector development and financial regulation.

Mr. Anarfo, amongst other objectives, sought to (1) establish the causal and dynamic linkages between monetary policy and financial inclusion in SSA, (2) investigate the effect of financial regulation on financial inclusion in SSA, and (3) examine the causal interactions between financial inclusion and financial sector development. His study revealed that financial inclusion can be leveraged to enhance the effectiveness of monetary policy and for that matter guarantee macroeconomic stability.

Mr. Ebenezer Bugri Anarfo expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God, Supervisors, the Department of Finance and his colleagues for their immense support.

The University of Ghana Business School congratulates Mr. Ebenezer Bugri Anarfo for a successful PhD Viva.
