The Dean of University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Prof. Joshua Yindenaba Abor, together with some academic and non-academic staff, have met with the School’s MBA/MPA (Weekend) and EMBA students at the Graduate Building as part of the newly initiated “Meet the Dean Sessions” (MDS).
The MDS, to be held once every semester, is aimed at creating an interactive platform through which students’ views could be solicited on how to improve the quality of service delivery.
The Dean advised students to see themselves as part of the Business School and the University of Ghana and take advantage of the opportunities that exist for students of the University.
Prof. Abor assured students that comprehensive service delivery measures are being considered and implemented so as to ensure quality, fit-for-purpose services that meet their needs. He assured students that the School considers service a grave concern and is working tirelessly to scale up performance. He urged students to also play their role in the process.
Still on the issue of service delivery, Prof. Abor announced that the School is introducing a new MA in Marketing Strategy (sandwich programme) to be mounted in June 2015. He also announced the acquisition of a 1030KV-capacity generator, currently being installed, intended to resolve acute power challenges.
Students, on the other hand, did not hesitate to voice their concerns, which the School authorities took note of and assured the student body that actions are being taken to resolve most of them.
On other issues that needed explanations, the School authorities suggested that in order to allow the students ample time to put across their views, their concerns will be collated, discussed at the management level, addressed and the student body informed accordingly.
