The Human Resource Management Students Association (HURMSA) of University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) was launched during the first ever HURMSA week celebration at the Executive Hall on the 10th October, 2017.
Dr. K. Dartey-Baah, the Head of the Department of Organisational and Human Resource Management, commended the students on their effort in establishing HURMSA. In his address, Dr. Dartey-Baah mentioned the possibility of organisations coming on board to support HURMSA because of the calibre of the Business School. He stated that industry will virtually be brought into the classroom which will equip them to understand organisational issues that will aid them merge theoretical and practical aspect of Human Resource Management. He also entreated the students to grab opportunities, study hard and get the value out of what they learn and do on campus.
The launch was a platform for the students to be introduced to their executives. Miss Vanessa Addai, the president of HURMSA, in her speech noted that the group’s main objective is for students to work in close relationship with the lecturers as well as the Head of the Department. The formation of the association marks the realisation of the long-awaited ambition of directly connecting the Human Resource student body to faculty, and industry, noting that “this will be a platform for students to be connected to organisations.”
The event was climaxed with champagne popping and optimistic words for HURMSA and UGBS as a whole. Long live HURMSA! Long live UGBS!
