The Charted Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), under its improved accreditation framework, has granted University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) a number of exemptions available to the School’s BSc Administration (Accounting).
The exemptions, which come on the heels of CIMA’s recognition of UGBS as a reputed top-tier institution, means students can cinch the CIMA qualification in a shorter time period.
Exemptions at the strategic level are Strategic Management, Risk Management and Financial Strategy while Project and Relationship Management, Advanced Management Accounting and Advanced Financial Reporting make up exemptions at the management level.
The final batch of exemptions was that at the operational level namely Organisational Management, Management Accounting and Financial Reporting and Taxation.
The CIMA reports that it will monitor student performance in CIMA examinations and any other appropriate quality indicators to ensure the appropriateness of the exemptions awarded, the result of which will inform the re-accreditation of the programme in several years.
Founded in 1919, the CIMA is the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants with over 218,000 members and students operating in 177 countries working at the heart of business. CIMA members and students work in industry, commerce, the public sector and not-for-profit organizations.
