The Head of Accounting Department, Dr. Samuel N.Y. Simpson led Officials of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), one of its external stakeholders to the Dean of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Professor Justice N. Bawole. The Officials from CIMA were in the persons of Mr. Tim Samba, the Regional Vice President for Africa, Mr. Paul Aninakwah, the Country Manager, and Mr. Osman Musah, the Business Development Manager.
The discussions focused on existing relationships between the Department of Accounting and CIMA, including the opportunities to expand and strengthen relationships. New areas considered during the meeting included partnerships to organise business games through case studies. The Officials of CIMA highlighted the need to equip students with relevant soft skills to be successful in the corporate world. They added that there are several exemptions for Accounting graduates from UGBS and a waiver of all exemption fees as part of the partnership.
To crown the meeting, CIMA donated some study materials to the Department of Accounting. The books were received by the Dean and the head of Department of Accounting.
