The Accounting Students' Association (ASA) of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) held the 2019 edition of their annual week celebrations from 12-16th March 2019.
The programme commenced with a breakfast meeting which saw the presence of representatives from Deloitte, ICAG, Prymage Consultancy Limited and PWG speak to the students. This was aimed at sharing some experiences from the corporate world with student to help them have a feel of how life after school is.
A quiz competition was also organised which saw Accounting students from UGBS competing against their counterparts from the University of Professional Studies, Accra. At the end of the competition, the students of UGBS came out first and were awarded with an amount of GHS 2,000 by the Ghana Revenue Authority.
As part of the activities, a panel discussion on the theme “Opportunities after under graduate studies in the study of Accounting” was held on Thursday,14 March 2019. The discussion was hosted by Johannes Awunyo Kuvor of Radio Universe. The panel for the discussion were Dr. Godfred Mathew Yaw Owusu, a lecturer in the department of Accounting, UGBS, Professor Michael Ofosu Mensah, the dean of University of Kania, and Mr. George Quarshie Awusu, the acting head of sales and marketing, KPMG. The discussion was geared towards enlightening students on the opportunities available after studying Accounting.
On Friday, 15th March, there was a volunteerism outreach to the Staff Village Basic School where the ASA members admonished the students to study hard and avoid pre-marital sex. The five-day celebration was climaxed with indoor games.
