2017/2018 MSc. Development Finance Class Donates Towards UGBS Case Bank
Feb 19, 2018

In line with the University of Ghana Business School's (UGBS) mission of developing quality human resource capacity and leaders through the provision of world class management education and relevant cutting-edge research to meet national and global development needs, the school is working towards the development of a case bank. In view of this, students of the Corporate Finance, Governance and Investment class on Wednesday, 10th January, 2018 made a cash donation to the school in support of the case bank.

Speaking at a brief meeting organised to present the donation, the Dean of UGBS, Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor thanked the group for the initiative. He said this is the first time such an act has been carried out and urged other students to take a cue. Professor Abor said business schools across the globe strive on strong case teaching, a practice which he noted the UGBS is committed to adopting. This he observed equips students with the practical tools to function in the corporate world. He also encouraged staff and faculty to go beyond just teaching with cases and also develop local cases.

Representative of the class, Ernest Adinku said the use of cases in their course work brought some light and variety to their academic work. He said this broadened their perspectives as students and enlightened them as well. He added however that the cost of obtaining these cases was very high and explained that this motivated them to contribute toward the development of a case bank at the UGBS.

On his part, Departmental Case Coordinator for the Department of Public Administration and Health Services management, Dr. Roger Atinga said the gesture is a good example and should be emulated by other members of the university community. He added that the School will be relying on alumni in industry for data to support case studies and research and encouraged them to be willing to support anytime the need arises.

Present were Professor Mohammed Amidu from the Department of Accounting and the course lecturer and Case Coordinator for UGBS, Dr. Elikplimi Komla Agbloyor.
